As a Flower Mound high school Senior Photographer, finding the right location is my job. My nephew, John Michael, had an urban vibe in mind, so I had to scratch my idea of taking him to the nearby creek, nearby lake, or nearby bridge. He wanted sidewalks, street, cement. I’ve never shot in downtown Lewisville, Texas but have always wanted to. Main Street in downtown Lewisville was perfect and Im so glad I decided to ask my nephew before just taking him to the creek. Very happy I asked. Sometimes these kids really know where they want pictures and it’s important that I provide a location that feels “right” to my client, so I always make sure to ask- what sounds like a fun place? or -Where do you imagine your pictures to be?
This senior is extra special to me. This young man is my first nephew. The whole family went nuts when he was born. Crazy over him. We all loved and lived for John Michael. Oh my goodness, he was my life. He was actually one of my first subjects when practicing photography. When he was three, I had him for the weekend and made sure to fit in an impromptu photoshoot. We went by the local Target and picked up a plain white collared polo shirt, some tan shorts, and a black and white disposable camera. Yes. I practiced with a disposable camera. Im going to add those to the end of this blog. Check out the last couple of pictures here below!
John Michael was born in 2000- making him a Y2K baby. He and all the other Y2K babies will graduate this year. Can you believe the year 2000 was 18 years ago? I absolutely cannot! Congratulations Y2K graduates!
John Michael has an interest in media- videography, script writing, producing, directing, and photography. His creative mind and talent for scripts comes very natural for him and wrote and produced a few short films his senior year. It is one area he may pursue after high school. John Michael plans to attend a local community college to complete his basics and makes plans to transfer somewhere afterwards.
I cannot believe John Michael is a senior and I am so proud of him and look forward to where life will take him! Congratulations John Michael Hagar on your upcoming high school graduation. Contact me for your high school senior pictures!
*Please excuse the extra blog images (this is my nephew, so I went a tad overboard).
And here are some of my first photo shoots with my nephew- back in the day.
I love you John Michael to the bottom of my heart & all the way up to the moon and back. Love, your Aunt Mimi. I can’t wait to see what you do in life! Adventure awaits.
